DR. EDGARDO YORDAN: My educational background includes an internship at the University of Chicago, a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. I trained in gynecologic oncology at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. I enjoy the surgical challenges of gynecologic oncology, being able to help women with gynecologic cancers. It's a sub-specialty in our profession that has brought in the expertise of chemotherapy, radiation oncology, and advanced surgical techniques to the treatment of these patients.

One of the bonuses in our profession is that because of many advances in early diagnosis we tend to see a higher cure rate in our spectrum of diseases than most other oncologic fields. So that's a bonus.
